Treatment of Tinnitus with the Lenire Device

What is Tinnitus?
Tinnitus is the condition of hearing sounds in the ears or head even though there is no sound source in the external environment. This sound can be perceived as ringing, humming, buzzing or whistling. Tinnitus is not a disease in itself; it is a symptom that can arise due to many different underlying causes.
Chronic tinnitus can negatively affect quality of life and can lead to sleep problems, concentration disorders and anxiety.

Frequently Asked Questions About Tinnitus with the Lenire Device

Lenire is a non-invasive neuromodulation device used in the treatment of chronic tinnitus. The Lenire device offers a special treatment approach aimed at restructuring the neural connections between the brain and the hearing system.
This method is called bimodal neuromodulation and is based on the principle of simultaneously administering two different sensory stimuli.

In Lenire treatment, two different stimuli are applied together:
• Special sound signals given through headphones
• Mild electrical stimuli given with a small intraoral apparatus placed on the tongue
The simultaneous administration of these two stimuli promotes restructuring in the hearing-related areas of the brain. The goal is to reduce the perception of tinnitus over time or to alleviate the person’s reaction to tinnitus.

The Lenire device is especially:
• Those with chronic tinnitus complaints
• Patients who do not benefit sufficiently from drug treatment
• Situations that do not require surgical treatment
• It may be a suitable option for patients whose tinnitus continues despite using a hearing aid.
Suitability for each patient should be determined after a detailed assessment by an otolaryngologist.

Lenire treatment is generally applied at home.
• The patient uses the device for specific periods of time per day
• The treatment period usually covers a few months
• Progress is evaluated with regular doctor check-ups
The treatment duration and usage protocol are personalized according to the patient’s tinnitus characteristics.

• Does not require surgery
• Painless and safe
• Does not restrict daily life
• Can be applied at home
• Can be programmed individually

The Lenire device is generally well tolerated. Rarely:
• Mild tingling on the tongue
• Acclimation process in the first use
may be observed. These effects usually disappear quickly.

The purpose of Lenire treatment is not to completely eliminate tinnitus; it is to reduce the severity of tinnitus and improve the person’s quality of life. While significant relief is achieved in some patients, the effect may be more limited in others.

Doctor's Opinion and When Should I Make an Appointment?

A single method is not suitable for everyone in the treatment of tinnitus. Lenire offers a modern and scientifically based treatment alternative for suitable patients. The most accurate approach should be determined by individual assessment.
When Should I Make an Appointment?
• If you have had tinnitus for a long time
• If you have not benefited from medication and conventional treatments
• If your daily quality of life is affected
It is recommended that you consult an ear, nose and throat specialist for a detailed evaluation.
